Key

The tables list the recommended set of courses for each of the following roles:
P = Crew Planner/Crew Tracker
E = Expert User
D = Developer (Rave, script, report)
A = System Administrator

Courses marked X are mandatory, while courses marked (X) are optional. To get a detailed course description, click on the course you are interested in.

Role description
Crew Planner (P) creates, optimizes, maintains and publishes trips and rosters while maintaining minimal cost. A planner has a good understanding of the planning problem and uses both manual and automatic functionality in the Carmen system to solve the planning problem.     

Crew Tracker (P) manages recovery of disrupted rosters while maintaining minimal cost. The Tracker has a good understanding of the planning problem and disruption situations and uses the functionality in the Carmen system to solve the tracking problem. 

Developer (D) customizes the user interface and planning/tracking functionality, develops and maintains rules, cost functions, quality constraints, reports and script.
System Administrator (A) makes sure that the Carmen software runs smoothly, that backups are made regularly and that the operating system is properly configured.  

Expert User (E) has a deep understanding of the planning process, the IT environment. Expert users often work closely with the Carmen implementation project regarding specifications and modelling iterations.
